cellicello Posted December 6, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, It’s my first post in this forum. My first Leica is the SL2-S and love it. I don’t find a way to get magnification during taking a video to check my focus with manual lens. Focus peaking is one way but I’d like to get also the magnification option. I use Voigtlander Ultron F2 with an adapter from Shoten. I went to a Leica shop and tried with the Leica M to L adapter and with a summilux 35 APO and couldn’t get magnification during taking a video. What am I missing? Best regards Edited December 6, 2023 by cellicello
Advertisement Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Hi cellicello, Take a look here No magnification focus during video with manual lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
frame-it Posted December 6, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) in video mode, i press the joystick once to magnify before recording, get into the ballpark range and once recording starts i use focus peaking Edited December 6, 2023 by frame-it
Malabito Posted December 6, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2023 IF its like the pana s1, you won't be able. It's not available According to PAna it was due to hardware limtiation so most probable the same with leica
cellicello Posted December 8, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted December 8, 2023 Thank you both for your nice reply. It seems possible with an autofocus lens, so I don't understand why it couldn't work with a manual lens pushing the joystick. I'll ask Leica directly and let you know if I get an answer. You can punch in while recording with an autofocus lens?
LocalHero1953 Posted December 8, 2023 Share #6 Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) See other threads on this subject in the last day or so. In the new firmware (v6) for the SL2-S, unlike previous versions, you can no longer use the joystick to zoom in with manual lenses🤷♂️ Is your new SL2-S already updated to f/w 6? Malabito Posted December 8, 2023 Share #8 Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) one thing is to punch in while recording, which its never been available,,, another is to press the joystick to focus in photo mode, which it still does, or in video mode prior to recording. Malabito Posted December 8, 2023 Share #9 Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) Update: the video below is with a none leica adapter, (novoflex), with the leica adapter which i also have it doesnt work. The fw upgrade broke the functionality with the leica adapter. Edited December 8, 2023 by Malabito
Malabito Posted December 8, 2023 Share #10 Posted December 8, 2023 I just checked with a leica adapter, no matter if its a 6 bit coded lenses or not, it doesnt work. It works with none leica adapters, the video above is with a novaflex adapter, but when using the leica "official" adapter it doesnt work.
