Leicanovice Posted November 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone I was wondering if you kindly help me solve a puzzle with my Leica q3: When I film and make a panning shot, the clip starts to jerk after a few seconds - i.e., it starts out smoothly but then starts to jerk/choppy. I am using C4K at 24 fps, the shutter speed is set at 1/50 and stabilization is off (I have tried with on as well, without any changes). I have used the same card (sandisk 512 gb extreme pro at 170mb/s) for shooting 4k videos on other cameras without any issues. I have formatted the card in the camera twice now. I am all out of ideas! Can you suggest any workaround? Much appreciated.

Knorp Posted November 12, 2023 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2023 Only when panning ?
Leicanovice Posted November 12, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted November 12, 2023 Honestly, I am sure it is there while I am not moving but it is most pronounced during panning.
Miltz Posted November 12, 2023 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2023 Same thing happens with my Z6. It’s the slow readout speed of the sensor. Panning is the worst type of movement for slow sensors. 60fps should be smoother. Try it.
nariza7 Posted November 13, 2023 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2023 Can you post an example as a YouTube clip? Like others have said, 24p can be super choppy when panning. Other than that, I’d question if it’s your comps ability to play it back smoothly or not or if you are playing from the file on the sd card through comp. Id say copy the video file to your local directory and play it from there to see if it’s choppy still.
Leicanovice Posted November 14, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted November 14, 2023 No change - same jerky playback on the camera at 60fps. But when I export it into Premier Pro, the clip plays back ok but not right away. After a few times playing it, the choppiness appears to go away! Not sure what's the issue. nariza7 Posted November 14, 2023 Share #7 Posted November 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) hm, may I ask what computer or laptop you are using to watch it? Wondering if premier pro transcodes it, though ive never used PP before. Very odd scenario though. I think uploading a sample video might help with troubleshooting? Other than that, I cant think of much.
