irenedp Posted October 29, 2023 Share #3 Posted October 29, 2023 I use these across the board, for the MF cameras and also the large Nikons. Very safe and quick, Welcome, dear visitor! Pieter12 Posted October 29, 2023 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2023 There's an L-bracket made for the S that is sold on eBay. It fits well but doesn't seem as sturdy in the vertical position as the RRS. Otherwise, most generic Arca-Swiss compatible plates work well if you use both tripod sockets to prevent twisting. You might need to fit an adapter in the 3/8" socket to use two screws.
Einst_Stein Posted October 30, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) I guess the key is the anti-rotate. There are three approaches, 1: with anti-rotate pin, 2: with anti-rotate lip, 3: use two screws. Any experiences on the effectiveness or convenience of the three? John McMaster Posted October 30, 2023 Share #6 Posted October 30, 2023 RRS S bracket used locating pin, probably most precise. I have RRS brackets on some of my lenses (Mamiya 645 and Leica R long lenses) that use either/both of the latter types which seems OK. john

AS universal L-bracket seems fine. Still searching if there is any thing even better.

There are a number of clunky (in my opinion) 2-part L-brackets on the market that will fit. 1 hour ago, Einst_Stein said: Found this, looks good. Will give it a try. Welcome, dear visitor! Kind of bulky for the Leica S, since it measures over 3" long while the S base is about 2-1/2" so it will protrude more than 1/2" under the lens. (Please excuse the U.S. units, I didn't have a metric ruler handy.) Plus it is thicker than most Arca bases since it has the little legs that need to be accommodated,

John McMaster Posted October 31, 2023 Share #12 Posted October 31, 2023 I bought one when RRS were making them, since then I have bought a used one from ebay UK. Miami Leica had a used one a while back, but postage from US to UK was exorbitant 😞 john
Einst_Stein Posted October 31, 2023 Author Share #13 Posted October 31, 2023 Miami Leica no longer has the item you’ve mentioned. I will check back again.
Pieter12 Posted November 2, 2023 Share #14 Posted November 2, 2023 RRS just released this universal L bracket. It looks like it would work well with the S. https://reallyrightstuff.com/mc-ls/?utm_campaign=CAMERA - Product Info Email&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=280968563&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_z4cjtBBLIJAdWktRGQQgg9hbEo9FnmAdM0zdrv-RpEbUoWNLNNEEPhc6rVR3YHUwUESwqUSLM70z_GAgQi3NeD0snKQ&utm_content=280968563&utm_source=hs_email
