Having seen reservations about the Lim thumb grip, and given that the black Leica one is virtually vapourware (and very pricy), I decided to give the JJC one a go. I recently bought their hand grip, and am perfectly happy with it. The thumb grip is a bit over £40 from Amazon, a fiver less if you buy it directly from China on eBay, and arrived this morning. It’s well made, and (so far at least) shows none of the wobbliness reported with the Lim. Instead of covering and replacing the two function buttons, the design cuts above them so you still use the original buttons. You might consider that fractionally less elegant as a solution, but it seems to work just fine. It’s a good firm grip, and completes for me how I want to use the Q3.

I'm using the Leica thumb-grip and can't fault it…. Yes it's very expensive, however, it fits firmly into the hot shoe, the design is superb and the two function buttons are brilliantly tactile and responsive. Genuinely, it's been designed perfectly! It is so comfortable, looks good; for me it's an essential accessory.....  But the Leica half case is a totally different story!!!
