Autumnal Common Lizards sunbathing on logs habitat at Swaddywell Nature Reserve, Peterborough, UK, 10 October 2023 – where they congregate prior to their November 'group hibernation'. Cold blooded Common Lizards seek and enjoy warmth – hence very occasionally whilst I'm observing, climb up my leg seeking same – I've witnessed them climbing onto my warm hand from my leg. They also flee very quickly if disturbed / startled – e.g., when my tripod is set up in front of the logs habitat  – but then creep back onto the top of the logs pile to enjoy the Sun.

Leica SL 601 / Sigma 100-400mm L-mount @ 300mm ish; small Gitzo tripod fitted with Novoflex GAKO fork mount.
