mjh Posted November 18, 2007 Share #21 Posted November 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you happen to have more accurate information, I would be very interested to hear. If the curtains took 1/8 sec to completely open or close the shutter, it would be impossible to synchronize the flash with faster shutter speeds than 1/8 sec. But since the actual limit is 1/250 sec, the shutter curtains must be more than 30 times faster. With a gap about 30 times as wide than you calculated, I doubt that diffraction could be an issue. In any case, diffraction effects caused by the shutter curtains would be limited to the vertical direction, whereas your images seem to show a uniform amount of blur in all directions. In any case, diffraction effects caused by the shutter curtains would be limited to the vertical direction, whereas your images seem to show a uniform amount of blur in all directions. I also came to the same conclusion. And given the fact that the shutterblades move in even less than 1/1000 sec, the gapwidth is even more than 320 Pixels wide at 1/8000sec, so the diffraction thing is dead and burried. I now see flare in the lens as the most likely reason for the blurr, maybe because of the very strong reflection on the left vertical side of the building or maybe because of something outside the picture but still inside the angle of view of the lens.
