My apologies if this has been covered prior but I know someone will be kind enough to quickly respond on this forum

I am interested in the Monochrom M9 ....it only has an optical view finder and no live view..... so I am framing my image via the optical viewfinder in 'color' .... Can the M9 take an ETF for the hotshoe that might allow me to look thru it in BW? Simple question...

I realize the 246 has live view....BW viewfinder etc... I had a 246 at one time or another and even had an Olympus ETF if desired. I really liked the idea of framing my image in BW, although being a BW film shooter, I do know what to look for.

Thanks......

Yeah....so correct..... And the more I think of it, the more I most want to have that optical viewfinder as that shows me essentially the same thing that my MA does....

The simplicity of the Monochrom is fantastic.

I have mine set to Auto-ISO, and I then forget about any settings at all.  The output is DNG only, and you get a raw histogram (when viewing the captured image, obviously).  The images are sublime, with subtle grey tones and good dynamic range, privided you protect your highlights.

Granted, the sound of the shutter is a bit weird (particularly the re-cocking of the shutter), but you get used to it.

Mine’s a keeper.

I have always liked the output from my M(9) Monochrom. But it mostly sits on the shelf after getting the M10 Monochrom; a more refined and superbly capable camera, also with marvelous output.  My M10-R (BP) is similarly capable, but it too mostly sits idle.  M10M is a joy to use.
