Jeff Wagner Posted September 28, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry if I missed this in an earlier thread. I have focus peaking on but I don’t see it. There is a large white rectangle in the bottom left corner that I haven’t noticed before.
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Hi Jeff Wagner, Take a look here Focus peaking . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicameech Posted September 28, 2023 Share #2 Posted September 28, 2023 Focus peaking, the icon showing that it's on, will be located on the right side of the LCD screen, at about the same level as the directional buttons on the back of the camera are at. It's a figure of a person, in white, with a "shadow outline", so to speak, in one of four colors (red, green, blue, or white). If you do not see the person icon, you do not have focus peaking turned on. The white rectangle is visible when digital magnification (the focus aid) is on, and the whole rectangle represents your entire frame. If you turn the thumb wheel, the rectangle's white portion will shrink (showing how zoomed in you are and where in the frame you're zoomed into). Start with the Menu>Capture Assistants>Info Profiles. You should see Info Profile 1 Info Profile 2 Info Profile 3 Info Profile 4 Select an info profile, and you'll see a menu of any item you want to turn on (or off) for that info profile only. I like to have an info profile with focus peaking on and everything else off, and another profile with focus peaking and level gauge both on, with everything else off. I use only two of the four info profiles personally, and turn the other two off entirely. You can turn on as many or as few as you want. If you want focus peaking, you'll need at least one info profile to be on and for focus peaking to be on for that profile. Once back in live view, you can switch between info profiles by pressing the center button of the directional pad. With each press, you'll cycle through to the next profile. For example -- if I have profiles 1 and 2 turned on, with profile 1 being focus peaking only and profile 2 being focus peaking + level gauge, when in Live View, I would press the center button once to get into profile 1, another press to get into profile 2, third press to show nothing at all (just the entire frame). The next press after that would bring me back to profile 1. As long as at least one of your info profiles has focus peaking, you simply need to press the center button until you activate the profile focus peaking is on and see the icon on the right hand side of the screen.
