Aram Langhans Posted September 17, 2023 Share #1  Posted September 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a manual lens with an infinity stop to adapt to my Nikon Z7 for astrophotography. I have some R glass, but the 35 cron is not wide enough and the 24/2.8 is soft in the corners. I was wondering if anybody has used the 28/2.8 for astrophotography and if coma and sharpness is controlled well enough for stars to show as nice points in the corners. Or perhaps i need to look to M glass for a 28mm that would perform better than my Nikon 28/1.8 F lens.

Camaro5 Posted September 28, 2023 Share #3  Posted September 28, 2023 First question is how would you know if a lens is soft in the corners if you're shooting night skies? I have a 24/2.8 and have used it at night although not for astro work. I've noticed a little bit of vignetting wide open, but it's very slight, and it can be corrected in post or by stopping down a little. This lens at f/2.8 is fine in low light, but not fast enough for astro.  I use a Sigma 20mm/1.4 DG DN Art lens for the night sky work I do on an SL2-S. No infinity stop but with a Bahtinov mask and magnification you really don't need one.
Guest Posted September 29, 2023 Share #4 Â Posted September 29, 2023 Two nights ago I shot the full moon with my APO-Telyt-T 180 f/4. Film goes to development next week, so if it worked I can show the pic week after next.
