Almizilero Posted November 2, 2023 Author Share #21 Â Posted November 2, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) A little update. I had a look at an SL601 and really liked it. I could use the same batteries and Godox XPro, which is a big plus. Image quality was great as well. I basically just couldn't bring myself to pay the price ... While I was still considering, I stumbled upon an S5II offer that I just had to got for. I got a bundle with a hefty seller promotion discount. With the current cashback from Panasonic and selling the lens I might end up getting a brand new S5II for around 1200 EUR. Hard to beat. First impression was wow, so many buttons and menu options! But after some deep dives I think I can set it up with custom settings for my usecases and not think about menus to much.

As I wrote above, I found the S5ii surprisingly loud after the SL2-S. I was out with it today and have two thoughts. The shutter is noisier - though it’s not too big an issue. It feels less damped than the SL2 The EVF isn’t as good for my eyes. First, the diopter doesn’t allow for my need for +3 adjustment, and feels more “electronic” than the SL2…. If I had to choose between the two, it would always be the SL2 (menus, handling), but as a low cost back up it will more than do the job.
