Yes, I watched this thread unfold, somewhat amazed that anyone would even consider resale value.

I just like the camera, and I am an amateur and a beginner to boot. I wouldn't want to let go of Q3, though Q3 was not the camera that I intended to buy when I entered the store. I bought it on the salesperson's advice (it was the last of the ten that the shop had received)

That said, I fully understand why someone would consider resale value. As all know personal preferences differ, and there could be good reasons such as trading in for another camera, or if after some use a person doesn't find the Q3 as charming as some of us, or the camera that s/he needed for a particular kind of work, etc

I think the resale value can indeed be a very valid concern for some of us

I think OP has an erronated image of what "holding value" means (whereever he got this info from). I think Leicas hold their value  better than most other brands. Nearly all Leica products bought new at list price will loose some value over the first period of time. Less than say a Sony, but there will be a discount.

Even Leica lenses if bought new at list price will loose some value. Less than most other brands but still.

Fujix X100V is at this moment a notable exception. Until this Tic Toc madness around the X100 started, you could easily buy an open box return X100V with 30% discount at Amazon Warehouse. Which was way more loss than for an open box Leica Q2
