tom24 Posted September 5, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I'm getting the Leica Q2Monochrom this week and I'm already looking forward to it. I am interested in your experiences - experienced monochrome users. After processing in ACR, Lr or Caprure One, is it better to export to Gray Gama 2.2 profile or ProPhoto or any other - for printing on Epson SCP800 (or Canon)? And is sRGB the best for the internet also for monochrom fileas? Oh, and one more question - is ACR (Lr) or C1 better for monochrome files? Until now, I worked in LR color. I tried C1 on test Q2M files and it is quite promising. Especially more options when choosing initial monochrome profiles-curves (auto, linear…). Your opinions? Thank you. All the best to everyone. SAronian Posted September 5, 2023 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2023 Personally I keep processed images from the Q2 Monochrom in RGB format with S-RGB profile embedded. Probably more just out of habit from working in computer gaming graphics throughout the 1990's. I wouldn't use the default grayscale profile "20% Dot Gain" for non-offset printing or screen presentation. Although the JPEG standard does have a 12-bit grayscale specification I wouldn't trust ink-jet printers to correctly interpret the data. Instead preferring to send an RGB file.
