Hello

I am looking into getting an M and I found this ad: I am wondering if this version exists or if the screw was changed ?

I did not find any black M246 with a front silver screw. Looks like a special edition where the covering was changed or something?

Thanks for your advices. See the Ad.

It`s not only the screw, there is nothing silver on any serial Leica Monochrome camera.

Not quite true...

A few of the original M9 Monochrom cameras were made in chrome finish. I have one in chrome with the M9-P engraving on the top cover...

Snap!...

Although I should point out that the top-plate engraving was not a feature of the regular run of S-Chrome Monochrome cameras.

As far as the OP goes; I have no idea whether Leica released a batch of so-called 'Panda' M246 bodies. I've certainly never seen nor heard any such thing but, then again, we ARE talking Leica and they do strange things from time to time.

Another possibility is that perhaps a dealer swapped-over some parts from a 240 to create the 246 seen here and a S-Chrome 240 with Black-Chrome buttons etc.?

Philip.

I know that there is also a silver version of the Monochrome. But LCM94 was talking about a black anodised body, which never has silver parts, as long as it is original.

In which case I must have misunderstood the intention behind your post #2 because you wrote; "...there is nothing silver on any serial Leica Monochrome camera...".

I agree with you, Wonzo, in that I've never heard of a 'Panda' of either type (Black with Chrome / Chrome with Black) released in any of the Monochrom variants.

Philip.
