Carrot Posted August 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I make use of AF-L most of the time on my Q2 and SL2-S. On the Q2 I have it assigned to the zoom Fn Button, and focus stays locked when pressed, unlike the SL2-S where you have to hold the assigned Fn Button in. I don't mind the two operating differently when focusing, but what I don't like about the Q2 method is the fact that there is no way to cancel the focus lock after taking a photo, the green cross in the EVF stays green and focused on what you shot, and pressing the Fn Button again simply focuses on something else, it doesn't cancel it. The only way I can see of cancelling the AF-L is to turn the camera off and on again. Am I missing something here, is there a way of cancelling AF-L, or are you committed to always using it once you have used it once, until you turn the camera off? Absolutely. I'm using a Q3 and unfortunately the AF-L deactivates after every shot. So I don't have a chance to 'prefocus' with the AF-L and then take several photos of a situation (e.g. in case of an event) quickly. I always have to focus again. It would be great if the Q3 Firmware would behave in the same way as the Q2. Maybe it's a workaround for you to have two different profiles - with and without AF-L. Not sure if this works because I don't have a Q2.
