TheEyesHaveIt Posted August 12, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I recently had to get a prescription for farsightedness, +1.25. I’m thinking of getting a diopter for my M11 because I tend not to wear my glasses everywhere, though I have noticed they do help with precise focusing with the RF patch. I’ve read that the M11 viewfinder already includes a -0.5 diopter built in? Would that mean I should get something like a +1.5 one or +2.0 one? Thanks for the help! Jeff S Posted August 12, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2023 Ignore the minus diopter correction. My non-technical advice is to experiment, either using samples from a dealer or trial diopters from a local optician. I did the latter, and found that with my aging eyes, a +.5 diopter, in addition to my glasses, provided optimal focusing. My glasses correct for distance and astigmatism (and sunglasses for light sensitivity), and I prefer having excellent sight even when my eye isn’t against the VF. After all, I also need to be looking around when photographing. Jeff

Jeff S Posted August 12, 2023 Share #4 Posted August 12, 2023 (edited) Indeed. I find solutions like the Walker eyepiece, which can correct for astigmatism and distance, awkward (rotating) and bulky. And it still wouldn’t address my above objectives. I use thin, flexible eyeglass frames, which allow me to comfortably press against the VF.
