robgo2 Posted July 30, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted July 30, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I am considering using this as a general purpose mid-range telephoto lens on my CL, including for portraits. How does it render? Is it too sharp? Is the non-macro bokeh pleasing? Thanks, Rob Edited July 30, 2023 by robgo2
Advertisement Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Hi robgo2, Take a look here How is the Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 ASPH. as a portrait lens?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Steven Lane Posted August 2, 2023 Share #2  Posted August 2, 2023 I purchased this lens just after it was released, solely for its macro function. However I quickly realised that it made a superb short telephoto lens for more general photography including portraits. I have never found it too sharp or ‘clinical’ in its rendering, and the bokeh was very pleasing. My only negative comment would be the slowish autofocus speed which is only really noticeable when using it as a macro lens. It is easier to use manual focus in this instance. I rather foolishly part exchanged my copy a couple of years ago, to help finance a SL 75mm Summicron. I missed the lens from the moment we parted company, and the feeling of loss never went away. Four weeks ago I purchased another one but this one will stay with me 😀
robgo2 Posted August 2, 2023 Author Share #3  Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) Thanks, I found one at a great price on eBay and am awaiting its arrival. It’s funny, because when Leica dropped the CL line, I promised myself never to buy another TL lens, but last winter I got the TL-11-23 and now the TL-60 Macro. The camera is still working great and putting out some wonderful images, so why not? I don’t consider my cameras and lenses to be investments. They are tools to be used and enjoyed. Edited August 2, 2023 by robgo2
