M11 monochrom - No blinking too dark shadows area

Hi,

Got my M11 Monochrom few days ago, I’m still learning to use this new (nice !) camera. Coming from an M10 monochrom, if I remember correctly on play mode, the areas which were too dark or with too much light were blinking with two different colors. Seems that on M11 monochrom, only the areas with too much light are blinking, with an alternate black/white (no color alert).

I am using firmware 1.6.1.

Could someone please confirm this problem ?

For M10 platform (don’t have M11), menu settings are under Capture Assistants > Clipping.  One can set up profiles to include or exclude displayed items.

Thank you for the confirmation on M10M Jeff.

On M11M, the same menu exists but only the highlight blinking alert limit can be chosen.

I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work the same on M11M. Even with the wide dynamic range of the M11M, we can always get a pixel with a zero value which will never be possible to correct with a post processing push adjustment.

pure speculation on my part. i just wonder given the m11m's ability to lift the shadows whether:

1. you actually clipped the shadows beyond recovery in post; or
2. leica didnt bother as most of the clipping happens in the highlights
