Boy I am looking forward to trying this one! Type II for me, black.

What do you guys think?

Robert White in uk has it on pre-order already for £519 (type II), £489 type I and £499 Type I L39 mount.

From the translated blurb:

the vignetting of the shooting frame when using the rangefinder is minimal

I think that would be a great differentiator from the Ultron, of which it apparently will retain the image quality.

Good times for M shooters!

On order from my usual EU dealer...........Plus a new version of the Color Skopar 35mm to replace the old one I shouldn't have sold last year. These are great lenses on film M's, not so much perhaps on digital if you are picky about vignetting, softer edges and you shoot primarily in colour, ( fringing ), but I'm not and I don't so that's ok.

I would take that minimal vignetting claim with a giant pinch of salt. However, the lens looks great and I can't wait for the first reviews. It also gives me some hope for a Color-Skopar 35mm to come...

Still waiting for that 50mm F/2 🧐

I think they are talking about how much it blocks the viewfinder window. At the size the lens is, it should be minimal.

Give us your thoughts! Also, the new paint seems to go match closely to the black chrome in the M camera

This is the V2 39mm filter anodized aluminum version. It matches the black chrome of the M4-2 nicely. I haven’t seen the black paint over brass but I do own a black paint 50 2.5 Color Skopar LTM. If the finish is as good on the new 34 filter black paint version with the infinity lock, it will a real beauty.

I hope to see the output of the lens once you have some film developed!

I was under the impression that the Ultron would be much larger in comparison. Though the bodies are not lined up here and the hoods throw off the perspective so maybe that is still the case. I get my Voigtlander 28mm 2.8 tomorrow for the M11.

There is a B+W 010 filter on the front of the Color Skopar, the lens hood is screwed into the filter adding just a bit more length to the lens. Removing the hood and filter from both lenses and setting the focus to infinity, the Color Skopar is about half the length of the Ultron

I just ordered black type II to use with my M2. I'll probably have it early next week. I'm wondering how much this tiny hood helps with blocking stray light? Maybe someone with digital M can test it quickly

It works well from the lens test reviews. There’s a comprehensive test on the Fred Miranda forum testing it against the 28 2.0 Ultron, 28 2.0 Summicron and the 28 2.8 Elmarit-M. It preformed well compared to all of them and the little hood did its job in reducing flare. Plus, if you are using the 28 frame lines, it doesn’t block any of the viewfinder.

Welcome to the forum!

The samples on Fred Miranda seem to show _incredible_ amounts of Vignetting, as well as purple colour casts in the top right corner on some images
