The title says it all.

I'm in Arles for the photo festival and the CR-1/3N battery in my 2022/23 MP has just died. I'm staying in the centre of town, getting around on foot, so I'm limited to nearby shops. I found no one that sold batteries until just now, when the saleswoman in an all-purpose tourist tat shop produced SR44 batteries and said two would work - and they do. As far as I can tell (Sunny 16 in bright south of France sunlight) the exposures are in the right ballpark. They also check with my phone exposure meter, tested against a plain cream wall.

The CR-1/3N has a nominal voltage of 3.0V, while 2xSR44 will have a nominal voltage of 3.1V. I'm sure that's not a difference that will cause any harm, but will my exposures be accurate? Do modern Leica meters incorporate a voltage regulator?

Enjoy the trip! We were there for several days in 2004 and had a great time.

Plenty of photographers here this week! Leica has taken a space with a small photo exhibition and a display case of cameras. Fuji sponsors one of the venues, but otherwise, I'm glad to say, it is all about photographs and photographers, not equipment!
