M11M unresponsive shutter button

I have a relatively new M11M that has never had issues until recently. Now the shutter button is intermittently unresponsive. I’ll turn the camera on. Everything looks normal, but when I press the shutter button, nothing happens. The menu buttons, review buttons work. After about 15 to 20 minutes the camera returns to normal function. I have tried resetting, it taking out the card, reformatting the card and it continues. I have the latest firmware. Has anyone else experience this?

Try this: Upload "SD Card Formatter" application - it is free and secure! Formatte SD card with it - it is not enough if you formatte card only in camera!! Using soft release button also add some piece of proper functionality to the camera! Hope it'll work!

whats the shutter button got to do with the sd card?

There were a few posts a year or so ago about some of the m10 series doing that same thing.  I believe the most common problem they found was that the ring surrounding the shutter button had loosened slightly causing the shutter release to become intermittent.

Thanks for the replies. I will try formatting the card again. I tried it w/o any card, just using internal memory and still had the same behavior. 

I have also notice other things when it is not working like the camera say it is in Manual Mode when it is in Aperature mode and that the SS and EV comp are really off so I am more suspicious this is more than just the shutter button.

I had the same intermittent problem with my M11. Pressing the button, and nothing happening. Turned out it was the camera selecting the electronic shutter. Could it be that, maybe?

Just to report a follow up. I sent my beloved M11M back to Leica. 2 months later they repaired the shutter button and it works perfectly now.  No idea what they did or what was wrong. I really missed it and during its absence I did not use my M11 much and it leaves me wondering if I even need my M11.
