JGW Posted November 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know of any usable (and available) accessory viewfinders that might be useful for using on the M8. We all know how bad the built-in frames are, and I would be interested in using something for a 35mm lens in particular (47mm). I'm wondering whether a viewfinder for a 40mm lens was ever made i.e. Leica CL which might be more useful? Many thanks, JGW.
Advertisement Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hi JGW, Take a look here Accessory viewfinders on M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted November 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2007 I think the CL had frame lins for the 40mm, that was the standard lens for that camera, so I doubt anyone, including Leica, ever built a external finder for it. The only finders I have seen for 50mm is the old style ones for the IIIA-G that are just cut metal.
sean_reid Posted November 11, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 11, 2007 An external 50 mm finder should get you close for the 35 on the M8. Voigtlander makes a good one that has 1.0 X mag. Cheers, Sean
JGW Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted November 11, 2007 Thank you. I thought about 50 mm viewfinders, but having done tests comparing 50 mm lens framings of other M cameras and OM cameras they seem all about the same as the built-in frames for 35 mm (46.55 mm) on the M8. I was hoping there might have been something produced just a little bit wider or a 50mm frame that's 'loose' as opposed to the 'tight' frames of the M8. JGW.
