eyedeebee Posted November 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got a couple of boxes of developer mixes (Fomadon P and Fomadon Excel), that I picked up earlier in the year in the Czech Republic. Has anyone got any tips/experience of using these developers - what do I need to know?!?

eyedeebee Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted November 11, 2007 Thanks - the Retro Photographic site is very useful, and describes Fomadon Excel as - "an advanced formulation slightly alkaline developer yielding fine grain negatives with enhanced sharpness, resolution and distinctive highlight and shadow areas. This developer is highly stable ensuring reproducibility and tolerance to temperature variation." This sounds like the sort of idiot proof product I like! I'm hopefully getting an Epson V500 scanner tomorrow, so I'll post some results.
fotohuis Posted November 12, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2007 Fomadon Excel is a Czech copy of the Xtol from Kodak with all advantages and disadvantages for this developer. Most information is on the Czech Foma website which has also access in English: FOMA BOHEMIA Both Xtol and Excel are sensitive for metal ions in the water which will shorten the lifetime of these developers very much. Best advise is to use demi-water when making a stock and get rid of the developers over 6 months of storage of the liquid stock.
