Hello. Do you think this is a Leitz product? There is no brand name. Thanks

It looks early and original to me. Missing the Wetzlar condensor logo and the auf/Zu lettering on the locking end. Here are four of my black paint versions, nickle plate was earliest then chrome.  Later on the winder was all chrome.  There are slight differences that can be noted in screws, number and location, and some parts shapes that could be due to an evolving product. Reportedly, some of the earliest versions had a metal tape to pull the winding mechanism, quickly dropped in favor of fiber cloth to eliminate chance of cutting the operator. None of mine are metal tape, you might check yours. The earliest models seem to have three exposed screws around the spring canister, yours is like this. so is one of miine. I see other variations also. But, most likely yours is original parts from Leitz. Now, why the engraving is missing one could offer several speculations. Note that the condensor logo first appeared over a screw at the "T" in Wetzlar, perhaps this was quickly moved over, or the engraver just did what he wanted to.  Maybe this unit just missed engraving altogether. I believe the engraving was done before the assembly, as especially the auf/zu or open/close would be very hard to apply the bismuth after assembly. Yours also has some variation in the close latch. Your nickle plate is dull looking, but so is one of mine. Note the early canister to cover the coil spring (farthest right in my photos) is thin and flat at the base, and shows the three screws. later version had a thicker cannister base and no visible screws.

In summary, I think yours was made by Leitz, perhaps a prototype, but definitely early production. And it is missing the engraving for some unknown reason.
