Title based on the x2d thread but I have a serious question for those having shot (or still using) the 500cm as well as a Q3.

To me, the cm was perfect (as many of mf cameras that time): great glass to look at, keeping the camera at waistlevel gave you a special view and the perfect location of the shutter release.

Till now, the cameras I had with a tilt screen, failed for the last part: comfortable being able to release the shutter.

How does the Q3 holds up here? Instead of the point finger, one must probably use its thumb, but does it feel natural after a while? Thanks.

Hasselblads are for me are held in the left hand and released by the left index finder, with the right hand focusing, setting the focus, aperture and shutter speed as well as wind-on.

When using a visoflex on a M10 or TL2  a top down finder view equivalent to using the Hasselblad waist level finder with magnifier, is achieved. The focus is now a left hand operation and the right is shutter speed and release.

The first EVF digital camera I used was the Ricoh GXR; this had a clip on visoflex like tilting EVF. I distinctly recall finding it difficult to adjust when switching between it and the 501c WLF, as the Ricoh's image was fully mirror corrected and so the image moved the opposite way to how I had long ago trained my brain to go against nature.

I don't have a Q3 so cannot compare, but with the X100V tilting screen, have have no problems using the right index finger to releasing the shutter or focus, which is always through single shot AF assigned to the button on the top plate right next to the shutter release. But the camera does need to be cradled in the left hand when adjusting the shutter speed or aperture. On the SL2-S I always struggled with the button ergonomics, none were in reach without shifting grip.

Mmmm, I hold the camera in the left hand, but released with the right index finger… holding a nowadays cam with the left hand, my index finger can’t reach the release button…

I've had a Q (not a Q3) and the 500CM.  Prefer the amazing quality, reliability, BOTH color and B/W images of my 500CM with 100mm f3.5.  The 500CM can shoot film and digital by changing available magazines, viewfinders with a 90 deg., 45 deg. and parallel angle of view.  Hasselblad long ago created the best and most modular camera design available in my opinion.  Love the simplicity in its design.

I hold and activate the shutter of the 500CM with my left hand while mostly using the waist-level finder.

Looks like I did sth wrong: I held the cm in my right hand, my index finger on the release while focusing with the left hand. Reading the above, people did it differently.
