Cogito Posted June 4, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) It could be just here in Los Angeles, CA, but the first week the Q3 was announced, used Q2 asking prices dropped to about $4,000, some down to $3,700, some at $4,200. Now, a week later, they’re all being offered at around $5,000. I know Leica’s generally retain their value better than other cameras (B&H only offering me $700 for an A7R3,) but even if I really preferred the Q2 over the Q3, I’d pony up a few hundred more and buy it new. Did the glut of folks selling immediately after Q3 announcement diminish? Are people not as excited about the Q3 as anticipated?(this is not the case if the YouTubers are to be believed) Is the waiting list extending into next year just too long? Don’t know if people are getting their offered prices. Was there a price drop but then an uptick of Q2s in other cities/countries? This doesn’t happen with the Sony cameras I use professionally. ps. Currently there is a Disney Edition Q2 offered for $12,500, I have no idea what to think about that.
Advertisement Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Hi Cogito, Take a look here Q2 Price Bump?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TheEyesHaveIt Posted June 4, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2023 Might be due to the Q3 wait time - even folks that ordered the Q3 won't have a replacement for their Q2 for months, which makes it harder for them to part with the Q2 too quickly (or at too low a price) probably. I imagine if you wait 2-3 months, you'll see the Q2 prices come back down.
goodbokeh Posted June 4, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2023 The best Leica Q is the one you have with you. Summer and Fall are right around the corner and the Q3 is a no-show for most. BTW, Reid Reviews Q3's resolution tests show what amounts to a dead heat with the Q2, with both models showing different small advantages.
marcus01432 Posted July 3, 2023 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2023 I meant to reply to this topic earlier. I do follow used Leica prices on Ebay. You can search the sold listings in eBay. As with anything else. Knowing the actual sale price of used cameras can be somewhat difficult. It is hard to find sale price transparency on the internet. Does anyone else have sold price sources for camera goods? Here is today's eBay sold and completed sales: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Leica+Q2&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=
Qwertynm Posted July 3, 2023 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2023 Wow, one (Q2) got sold for 839$. I would’ve said it’s stolen if it didn’t include the box. That’s one really lucky and one really unlucky person… the uptick in price was what I anticipated. People are waiting for their Q3 and putting their Q2 on the market. Not in a hurry to sell they raise the price to see who bites and are in no hurry to sell. The prices in these listings posted right above are a bit all over the place and would suggest the price band TO gave in the first post. From 3500 to 4500$
marcus01432 Posted July 3, 2023 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2023 $839. Yeah. Seemed TGTBT. Was that the one or of Tujikistan? I did miss an M11 for $3895 it if the United States because I thought it was TGTBT in March or April. Sold prices are all over the place. I have not looked to see if you can see offers that fail to sell in eBay! I think some of the list prices are too high and probably are still sitting with their owners. An industry like real estate has a high transparency in the United States. Variation in price is predictable usually with 2-3 % variation for type and size. Imn optics, companies like KEH and B&H must know the selling ranges for the used cameras and accessories. They wouldn't stay in business if they sit on overpriced used items.
