LocalHero1953 Posted May 31, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted May 31, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had this lens since launch in 2015, and it has had heavy use - the workhorse of my SL system, especially for stage performance and events. It took the brunt of a fall from a tripod when my grandson knocked it over - a cracked hood was the only damage. In the last few days I have noticed that the ribbed rubber band that surrounds the zoom control has loosened a bit. Not enough to stop use of the zoom, but enough to be irritating, bulging up just a little in the bits I don't grip. Has anyone else had this issue and dealt with it? Is it held in place solely by being tightly stretched, or is it glued? If the former, I shall see if I can get a replacement from Leica. If the latter, I would try re-gluing it myself. Advertisement Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90 - zoom ring rubber band stretch. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
justru49 Posted June 1, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted June 1, 2023 Mine had the same issue after 2 1/2 year of use. It was fixed for free when the lens was for other reason at CC. I would ask Leica for a spare part for diy mounting
wjdrijfhout Posted June 1, 2023 Share #3 Â Posted June 1, 2023 Had the same experience. The dealer was able to replace with a new one. A two minute job, I could even wait for it.
