gtto Posted May 31, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I find the Q2 grip a little shallow for my fingers especially because I usually carry it in my hand with a wrist strap attached. I stumbled across the RRS L Grip and wondered if anyone knows if the grip is “deeper” than the Leica grip? Thanks. Advertisement Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Hi gtto, Take a look here RRS L grip. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
oldsalt Posted June 1, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2023 I have the RRS L grip on my Q2 and I love it, yes it's a bit "deeper" than the Leica version... plus there's the added bonus of the Arca Swiss dovetail mounting, both horizontal & vertical...something I use quite a bit..... cheers
oldsalt Posted June 1, 2023 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2023 Oh....and one more thing about the RRS grip.... it has a QD socket in the bottom of it, so works a treat with my "Luma-Labs" QD Loop 3.5 strap....my Nikon D850 also has a RRS grip on it so the strap gets used on both of my cameras. Quick and easy to use, the strap comes off very easily when I want to put my Q2 on a mini travel tripod (something I do on my travels) cheers
hoppyman Posted June 7, 2023 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2023 Very early to ask about this I guess. Has anyone tried that RRS Q2 L Grip on the Q3 as yet? I don't need wireless charging when I get my Q3 but I do use their L Grips for studio on SL2 and previously on other Leica systems. Great for portrait orientation on tripod especially

Great for portrait orientation on tripod especially Yes, just tried to use the RRS Q2 grip on a Q3 body The bad news: The orginal RRS Q2 grip does NOT fit due to the flip screen that is expanding the body on the rear left side a little. Also the port cover on the left side (for USD and HDMI) can't be opened. The good news: Using a Dremel tool, a file, sanding paper and some time it can be made to fit (if you don't use the USB or HDMI). You have to make room for the flip screen by removing some of the aluminium on the left backpost and down on the bottom plate. For fully opening the memorycard port the RRS mountin scew must be lowered a little. As last make the shiny parts black again and you can use the RRS grip as before with the Q2
hoppyman Posted June 30, 2023 Share #7 Posted June 30, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks very much for a clear , helpful and definitive response. Given the apparent popularity of the Q3 perhaps RRS will produce a new design at some point.
