ELAN Posted May 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for the best M body to shoot color at ISO 6400. Having used the M10-P and M11 intensively I think I prefer the colors, WB and rendering of the M10-P at ISO 6400, but not by much. Both bodies leave a lot to be desired IQ wise at 6400. I have never used the M10-R. My question is, for those who can compare the M10-R to other M bodies, which produces the better colors, rendering and noise structure specifically at ISO 6400? If you’re disappointed with the others you’ll be disappointed with the M10R also.
rich_ Posted May 27, 2023 Share #3 Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Sorry I can’t help as I do not own either! but if to guess the m11 surely will be better at high ISO when comparing technology. I have never found M cameras that appropriate for very low light. Definitely when comparing to other manufacturers sensors and anti shake tech. You can use the dxomark website to receive an objective comparison of sensor capabilities. Edited May 27, 2023 by rich_
Jeff S Posted May 27, 2023 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2023 The most important variable: the user, who can control many of the other variables, including profiles, PP software/techniques, etc. Even then, color and other rendering preferences can be quite personal. ELAN Posted May 30, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted May 30, 2023 On 5/27/2023 at 5:52 PM, Al Brown said: The best body for color ISO 6400 is by far the M11. I'm not so sure about that anymore. For many months I shot street at night with the M11 in difficult lighting (white and yellow street lamps, some neon, etc) at ISO 6400. The colors and WB are a real challenge to get right even using a WhitBal card. Skin tones are often unnatural and no amount of tinkering in LR gets it right. Then my M11 broke and I'm using the M10-P for the past month shooting the same streets with the same lighting and sometimes the same subjects. To my surprise I prefer the M10-P colors and rendering. I might keep using the M10-P at night even when the M11 comes back from repair, so now I'm wondering how the M10-R compares at ISO 6400.
