iPacific Posted May 16, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 16, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello I am shooting with a Leica 90mm elamrit M v1 the Fat9 and gets some wire flare and sometimes wire foggy. Does anyone have any ideas with this? Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Huss Posted May 16, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 16, 2023 This happens with many old/older Leica lenses. It’s due to a combination of ineffective lens coatings and internal reflections. The lauded 40mm Summicron does it too. Here’s an example from mine - and this was while using a lens hood! And no filter. Welcome, dear visitor! hmzimelka Posted May 16, 2023 Share #3 Posted May 16, 2023 Same with the Summicron-M 50mm V. My 90/2.8 Fat and Cron 50 V flare worse with the sun outside the frame than when the sun is in frame. It's a Leica thing. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! iPacific Posted May 17, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted May 17, 2023 Thanks for reply Just feeling odd with such flare on a 90mm lens
hmzimelka Posted May 17, 2023 Share #5 Posted May 17, 2023 It's a nuisance in my opinion...
Huss Posted May 17, 2023 Share #6 Posted May 17, 2023 The problem with this flare is that if you use a film RF camera, you have no idea of the consequences until you develop the film. If you used an SLR (or camera with an EVF) you would see the flare in real time and can accommodate for it.
