Purchased the 23mm Cron TL lens

For upcoming travel, I thought I would try the 23 Cron instead of the 18 Elmarit "kit" lens that came with my CL. A bit better optically, faster aperture, but not much bigger than the 18. I think I like it so far, it'll serve me well for a while I'm sure. Some scenes from San Francisco Chinatown, with my TL2.

Nice images, The 23 is definitely a good lens, though the 11-23 is better all be it much slower. I find I take the 23 on my CL a lot of the time for the size and speed.

I often think about getting the 18mm, 35 1.4, etc TL lenses but when I use my 23mm TL, I remind myself that it’s my ‘go-to’ lens and I have no need for the others. Perfect size, weight, sweet spot for focal length, etc…it really is a fantastic lens!

I haven't seen a reason to get the 18, for 35mm I have a preasph 35 Summilux, much smaller than the 35 TL. When I go out I generally have the 23 or 11-23 and a 50mm Summicron. Going to Boston tomorrow, will probably take only the 23.

Thanks. I used the 11-23 on my original T, and must agree, it is a fantastic lens. Back then I actually compared it to my 21 SEM, which is also slow open at f3.4), but super corrected, small and just bitingly sharp.

I also own the other two you mention. The fast 35 has its place and use, as does the pancake 18. I came to the 23 very late obviously, and am not disappointed at all.

My 18 came bundled, and I guess out of sheer laziness, I decided not to sell it. Turns out that it is a surprisingly useful little lens. You are right about the size of the 35 TL Lux, it looks very awkward, upsets the balance of the T or CL, but optically and functionally, it is really nice. A bit too much chroma on occasion, though...

OK I just took the 23 to Boston, didn't do many pictures, but I like this one. The only problem is I had the camera on F2.8 so not the best.

I have been surprised about negative comments on the 23 on other threads. It is not a perfect lens but still quite good. Here is one at 1/40 f2 continuing the dog theme.
