I have a Leica SL from 2/2016 which I have had to restart following a red “restart camera” display warning. On restart, I am asked whether I wish to load settings from my SD card. When I click yes, most camera and favourites settings are lost nevertheless (even having saved these to the SD card before), which means I have to enter everything again.
This error has now occurred twice within a few weeks time.

Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggestion what might be the source of the problem? I should add that I have installed the latest firmware, always kept the camera in TLC, no extreme weather conditions or whatever. Batteries are not new but still work properly.

Any advice welcome.

with native lenses or adapted lenses?

if adapted lenses then which adapter?

did you try not loading the settings from the Sd card?

did you try restarting the camera without a lens attached?

were the sd card[s] formatted in-camera?

did you try restarting and using the camera with sd cards in both slots?

It’s the system error that I am worried about, especially since it has happened twice shortly after each other. Having to enter settings again is just frustrating. Both system errors occurred with a Voigtländer Apo 50mm M lens attached, but I cannot imagine that this or the (Urth M to L) adapter have caused the error. I have used the Urth adapter with many other lenses without any problems.

A few years ago had massive problem with a Lexar card on a SL 601- after a short while everything went black and the shutter was unresponsive.  Camera and lens 924-90) went back to Leica.  Problem with Lexar cards identified and advice to stick to Sandisk given - so I've used them since then without any issues.  Changing the make of card will be worth trying.
