On impulse, I bought one to go on my M-A. Only issue - there’s no way it will fit into the hotshoe. The only camera it will fit is my M10-D. It’s going back to the shop tomorrow. My Leica 21mm viewfinder sits ever so slightly crooked in my M7, but perfectly straight in my Minolta CLE. Easy enough to remove the screws in the bottom and find a "middleground/compromise" so it sits okay in all cameras. I have the VC II too, it wasn't a problem fitting it on any camera... maybe replacing it with another one will solve this, maybe some manufacturing tolerance that just doesn't work well with your hotshoe... I hope you find a good VC II because they are really nice! Do yourself a favour and don't buy the lookalike from Doomo... I had two of those until I realised I can't shoot at f/1.4 and 3200ISO, they confirmed that the electronics don't work at this sensitivity... Lightmeter would just go wonky... Yes, there is an ISO standard, and the meter should fit anything from the latest hotshoes to the old LTM accessory shoes they are derived from. Here is a photo of the VC II mounted on an M-A. I'd guess there is some issue with the one you have - is the foot too thick, or too wide? Or if it's snagging on something maybe you need to move the foot to the other position ? - I think it unscrews and can be re-positioned on this meter. I was worried about scratching the black paint on my M-A, but I needn’t have. qqphot Posted April 18, 2023 Share #8 Posted April 18, 2023 My VC II fits fine on M2, M3, IIIf, IIIg, and a bunch of other non-Leica bodies. The only one it is a problem with is a Kodak Retina IIa, where it is loose enough in the shoe that I have to wedge paper under it to keep it from falling out.
