Coding the Zeiss 21mm C-Biogon

Does anyone have an opinion about how to code a Zeiss C-Biogon 4.5 21mm lens? I see that Carsten's list shows different codes for different 21's, but not the Zeiss 4.5. (I just bought one of these lenses and hope soon to have the proper flange to bring up the 28/90mm framelines.)

Thanks, Steve

Were you able to find a 28/90 flange? When I emailed Zeiss about their other lenses and getting new flanges they indicated that the 21/4.5 uses a different flange type and you couldn't just their stock 28/90 flange like off their 28. They didn't come out and say it could not be done but they certainly gave no solutions. I don't have that lens so I did not follow up on the matter.

I emailed both US office and Germany office and they were very helpful in getting my flanges to me - sent them next day without me even paying. Like I said, I never followed up on that particular lens.

But if they do offer a replacement, you can order direct to yourself; send it for engraving to J. Milich for $25usd and attach yourself or have a camera repair shop do it. Also, paint the coding. And if it's the actual code matching you're after excuse me for all that other info. I think Sean Reid might have found the best code match for that lens in his reviews at reidreviews.com. Well worth the minor subscription rate.

I haven't found a flange. I was told by Zeiss (hoenlinger@zeiss.de) that I could buy a lens from them with the correct flange installed, but it was too much of a pain and too expensive:

For delivery to the U.S., "The price for you would be 839,50 Eur + 60,- Eur for the modification + shipping price to the US." In addition, payment had to be by wire transfer, "For these special modified items no Credit Card payment is possible."

I've been told it is possible to pay by credit card, but it doesn't look like it to me. Combined with a delivered price of almost 1400 (plus a chance of import duty), I decided to get the lens from Popflash.

I hope to be able to obtain the correct 28/90 flange at some point. We'll see.

I had heard credit card might be an options but no luck for me. I had to wire transfer 99eur plus another $45 transaction fee just to get 3 flanges and screws. I wished I ordered a few other things to save on shipping and wire transfer fees.

I hope you find the flange needed. I'm not sure why they would make that one lens different than the others.

The only other thought would be to take off the current flange and see if John Milich would fabricate one to pull the 28/90 lines. I'm sure the cost would be a bit hire but not as high as the other options you've mentioned. Or maybe there's a way to modify the actual flange to pull the correct lines. And he could code as well.
