I Love the voiglander 12mm

Herbert,

Although I have a B+W 43mm filter that is press-fitted into the CV's lens hood, I find that it badly vignettes (probably as the filter is reversed to avoid the glass touching the lens). Because of this, I removed it and shot without a filter. None of my lenses are coded and so far I've not used CornerFix.

I PP using ACR/CS3 and use Jeff Ascough's actions for the most part. Much of what I do is B&W and I don't mind vignetting, in fact I add a vignette to most B&W prints. I tried C1 (that comes with the M8) but I find it astonishingly ambiguous to use. For my needs, I am finding ACR/CS3 works very well.

Technique-wise, effective use of the 12mm is similar to any ultra-wide lens. Try to look for foreground objects that lead your eye into the background, especially a diagonal line that breaks the bottom portion of the frame. You can see that in many of the fine examples shown in this thread.

Here are two photos with the CV12 from the city of Fredrikstad this summer. No IR filter. The 100% crop shows the lens is razor sharp. You can just about see the railing on that bridge in the distance. I admit having straightened the building in PS, but apart from that - no cheating ;)

Agreeing with many comentators here.

I have a 15 Voight. I purchased the Wate and absolutely love it. It draws beautifull. I enjoy it so much that when I hppened upon a second hand 12mm Voight I took a chance. Wow it really is a lot of fun. Look here as I show three different shots as I was watching three generations of Flounder fisherman at work and play. Moody sky, lovely colours of scenery, worn out boats and look at the soot black iron sands with all sorts of irredescant colours coming through. these are such pathetically small files as you need for the net it hard to shaow whats in these pictures. Note thay are ex DNGs, no Milich filters or Corner fix, or coding yet. Look forward to cmposition critiscism. Mustay that becuae of the distortion that appears on the sides I am learning/trying to put part of my composition centre stage. This runs againest traditional rules of composition but we are moving on with this medium so I am trying it. this is a terrific lense and it will slip under the "radar" more easily than a WATE. Come leica put this on the development list.

Appreciate any coments especially concerning composing with the 12mm.

Incidently I was near these boats waiting and there is about half an hour between shots so light and sky and shot character changed in eachshot.

I would like to love this lens too, but the strange thing is that it can't be seen nor tried out in any retailer in all Paris. Better look for the 15 mm, they all have it ! Was asked to order for this "overspecial" lens, and pay 685 euros, plus 40 for the ring to M8.
