I’ve just noticed this issue with my new Summilux 35mm FLE2 on the M11M. The vertical alignment seems slightly off. It’s not an issue with the Voigtlander lenses.

This is what's weird with the M11 rangefinder that I didn't experience with the M10 variants – certain lenses alter the vertical alignment of the rangefinder patch. Something about the mechanical linkage can be affected by physical difference between the lenses.

Actually, both the Voigtlander and Summilux  seem off now. Is it the lens that messed up the alignment or just an out of spec camera?

Impossible to say without further testing. You might also try gently pushing around the roller inside the lens mount to see if that will reset things.

  • 2 months later...

I've been having the same issue on my M10. I bought it used from the local Leica Store, and I noticed no issue until a couple weeks in when the vertical alignment started to get worse and worse at all levels. Sent it in through the Leica store to New Jersey and picked it up two months later; looking through the finder, the misalignment was more corrected but still off, however, it was spot on at certain distances. I have been adjusting it with hex wrench but either one or the other infinity vs close range are on and the other is off alignment. It's good to see that others are having this problem. I know it's not the lenses, my M240 and M6 have no such problem with the vertical alignment at all ranges.
