Hello:

I wonder if anyone using this combination (Luigi half case and Leicagoodies Hook) has experienced any wearing of the M8 finish where the "hook" comes into contact with the camera body?

I have been using the Luigi case (wonderful piece of work) with the Leica strap and recently received a pair of "Hooks." I installed the Luigi Improved strap utilizing the hooks and am now fearful that the body of the Hooks will eventually wear away at the M8's finish. With this in mind, I am considering the elimination of the Hooks in favor of the Luigi Strap's intended spring loop connection.

You can protect your M8 body with "Gaffer Tape". The type I use is made by covcorp.com and is labeled "Nashua Tape" . The tape is a heavy cloth backed adhesive. I purchased it at PhotoVillage in NY for about $10. It works very well to cover the Leica RED DOT and other marking but can do extra duty in covering wear points. It has a nice flat black color that looks like it matches the camera. I tried it on all wear points on a recent trip to Prague because I was expecting very heavy useage on the street. You can cover everything or just cut and shape to cover wear points. If done carefully it can be made to look reasonable ..for the street I thought having it rough looking was an advantage. There is a photo in the thread on street shooting of my M8 taped. Also I went with the UPSTRAP small ...because my priority was using two cameras one on each shoulder...functionally this is my favorite strap ..of course the Luigi strap is a lot nicer.

Hi:

Thank you for the tape suggestion.

Until I find some here in third world like South Florida, I have decided to use the Luigi strap sans hook ... it offers considerable protection against abrasion but, of course, isn't quite as easy to remove as the Hook.
