ReidReviews has the first part of a review on this lens, in comparison to the WATE. I know a guy who is getting this Zeiss 18 and he probably won't be disappointed. Everything is done in that review except for general illustrations (ie: misc pics) and the section on cyan drift/vignetting when hand-coded. Otherwise, its all in. I acknowledge the serious trade infringement issues that inhibit this possibility, but I just wish Zeiss would offer a version "fully M8 ready" with the proper mount and coding so all I had to do was plug my M8 onto it and shoot. -g Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

What was that part about saving $3,000, again? I am the guy beating the dead horse -- you can still hear the echos (fast, wide, prime ... fast, wide, prime .........). Note that Sean's review compares the WATE and the Zeiss 18. As Sean says, the WATE is essentially a zoom lens. Never mind the cost difference -- Leica has a ZOOM lens that holds its own again a Zeiss prime. When Leica's Fast Wide Prime comes, just imagine the imaging power of a real prime from Leica. As I discuss in the review, the simplest path is to use Cornerfix. John has probably already sent me an alternate mount for the Zeiss 18 (to hand-code and test) but I'm not in VT now.
