I live in Canada, G7 country. People do notice Leica and ask about. Much more than any other camera from very many I have used.

Last thing for hot sun country is black metal plate. If you are really into street photography. On summer time I was putting white masking tape on my M4-2 because top plate was getting too hot while I was wondering on the streets. And people would still ask me - why I'm taking pictures.

I too live in Canada (a major city) and I actually find the opposite.  The only people who notice my Leica are other photographers…and I’m not worried about them stealing it.   Most others just think I’m using an ‘old’ camera…wouldn’t be worth much.

Sadly a large amount of crime is because of the drug trade…theft to support their addiction.  Most dealers and meth heads have no idea what a Leica is…if they do steal it they will be happy to get the $50 the pawn shop is going to give them.

Not just Leica.  My two sons both wear Rolex’s (dad can afford a Seiko 😂).   You read how in many parts of the world you just do not flash an expensive watch on your wrist.   Where we are (again a city of a million plus) they can wear them anywhere.

The benefits of living in an unsophisticated city 😂😂

I was asked if it is Leica in Milton, Toronto and Hamilton. A lot. None who have asked had camera on them.

I'm not going to talk about why here is huge spike of aggressive crimes on the streets since 2015 in Canada. Way too obvious and not just drugs related.

Don’t get me going 🥵

Why our governments do so little to actually address the root causes of our cities problems lately greatly frustrates me.

Bandaid measures are so much easier 😡

Exactly. I've spent a lot of time shooting in Europe (east and west), no one batted an eyelid. In the tourist hot spots there are large numbers of people walking around with large Nikon's and Canon's and a massive telephoto lens.

🤣 the world is bigger than north america and the EU.🤣

Yeah, in the past ten years I've photographed in Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, India, Malaysia, Australia, Croatia, Mozambique and South Africa, as well as the more common Western European countries - what makes you think I hadn't?????

It's a small point hardly worth getting upitty about. Given the choice, I would rather walk around with a small black camera than a silver one. You can choose differently if you want.

I was at a local tourist spot the other day and a young guy walked past me a few times. On the third or fourth time I noted he had a Q2 strapped over his body, but I didn't see it the first few times because he was wearing a black jacket.
