Purple line in photos

If that line is exactly in the center of the sensor I have noticed a similar artifact on 4 out of 3000 images.

Probably something to do with the fact that the ccd is read by two separate output channels

I am not going to worry about it since, in the unlikely event it occurs on an image that is not crap anyway, it can be dealt with in photoshop.

I have had a similar one-time-only experience with my replacement M8. It happened over about 10 frames, while using a much used 1GB Transcend SD card shooting in RAW. I changed the card and, thankfully, the problem went away and hasn't yet resurfaced. Hopefully it won't show up again.

You've compressed the image so much that it's really tough to see it. Would be better to show a 100% crop.

I doubt that SD card problems are going to show up as coherent lines in the image, especially if image is stored on the card as a JPEG. The card knows nothing about the format of the data, so the notion that data errors are going to be correlated to the image content is fanciful.

Instead, you should try to identify whether it's sensor or processing. Take a set of controlled shots at different exposure levels and ISOs. Pushing the exposure in post tends to show up these types of flaws. Try using both DNG and In-camera JPEG as well as different DNG processors.

Now I have tried to open it with Capture One 4.0 beta 2, and got the exact same purple line.....

I´m pretty sure it's the image chip or some electronics in the M8 now.

What do You think?

Thanx

Strange thing. I noticed a similar line that corresponds to a bright pixel, which is not always present. I believe the line depends on the stuck pixel.

So sometimes you see the white pixel, sometimes the pixel and the line, sometimes only the line, and sometimes none of them.

It seems that some pixels can get stuck and go away by themselves, other will stay forever. Since the first stuck pixel came out, now I have a new one, and the first is much less bright than the time it appeared.

On the LCD screen of the M8, the pixels are always visible and on underexposed pictures, the lines too.

I wonder: is the sensor going to develop more and more of them (and more vertical lines), or is it just normal behavior?

It looks like the thin 'vertical line problem' . Do a search on "vertical line' in this forum and and you will see the issue discussed as well as examples. I had this problem with my first M8. NJ replaced the camera.
