scottv Posted November 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Greetings My query, I have 2 coded lens, 28 elmarit asph & 50 summicron, but I have found that the lens detection is erratic. The 28 is very seldom detected and the 50 is usually, but on occasion not. Having bought a CV 21 the other day I have been looking at the issues of lens coding, vignetting, and IR sensitivity which led me to look at my exif data etc etc. I have had M8 since March and looking at EXIF data the issue has been with the camera from the beginning. I note that a post at the beginning of the year mentioned the issue regarding the non detection of the 28mm, concluding that it was a firmware bug which would be fixed with the next update... I am interested to know if others continue to have this problem and any recomendations. Or direct me to an appropriate thread. I will give my dealer a call tomorrow. Thanks in advance. Paul_S Posted November 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2007 I had the same problem when I bought the camera and had it repaired under warranty.

robsteve Posted November 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 3, 2007 Check your lens release button to make sure it hasn't loosened. A week or so after I got my M8 I was noticing inconsistent lens detection. In the end it was the lens release button had unscrewed slightly allowing some play in the little catch that engages the slot in the back of the lens. With this little bit of play, the lens alignment with the 6-bit code reading sensors could be off a touch and a misread or no read would happen. Robert The release button seems OK, not obviously loose. The lens mounts firmly, no play. I will mention this tomorrow as possiblity. Thanks for the input Robert.
