Olympus Story...

I'm placing this in the Leica forum because, for all intents and purposes, an Oly E-330 is a Digilux 3 insofar as sensors are concerned.

A few weeks ago my Oly E-330 developed a single pixel width vertical line, just right of center, in all images taken with the camera, ISO, color temp, shutter speed, pixel mapping made no difference. Also the status LCD had gotten scratched up. Oly was very polite and helpful, got me a ticket number quickly, and so I sent the unit back with a detailed description of the problem and a request for price of a new LCD display.

Received the E-330 back yesterday, no charge, looks great, new LCD... Oh wait, repair ticket doesn't say anything about the sensor fault. Nuts. Well, maybe they just forgot to mention it.

So, took the camera home, took some pix and... Sensor fault is still there.

To this point (today) Oly has been very helpful, contacted me back today with an offer to pay for shipping the unit back for free, which I'll get to next week. The fault is not the easiest thing to notice, so I'm not too upset, and fortunately I have an E-500 body that I'm using while the 330 is in the shop.

Many people on here complain about this and that. Having worked in repair and support, I know what a tough job it is. Doesn't matter if you camera body is $6000 or $1200, you will eventually have some problem with it. Keep a backup body!

I miss film. You replaced the sensor every 36 shots and never had to worry about stuff like this...

Sorry to hear about your cam Dana,I have an E-330 myself and I'm quiet fond of it although the kit lens is a bit of a letdown after the fixed lens on my D2.Sounds like they're treating you o.k at Olympus and I hope it works out o.k for you...P S are you still using the 28-90mm kit lens?....Cheers.......Liam
