SirBlunder Posted March 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody seen this documentary? Familiar with Garry Winogrand and his work? Really well done documentary IMO. Fascinating guy with immense IMMENSE talent. Thousands and thousands of absolutely amazing shots. Shot on an m4 almost exclusively with a 28mm (I think), which, for me, serves as some inspiration as a Q2 shooter.
Advertisement Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Hi SirBlunder, Take a look here Garry Winogrand: All Things are Photographable . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted March 9, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) Here is an article that gives us a little insight to Garry Winogrand: http://shooterfiles.com/2015/05/master-profiles-garry-winogrand/ And a web page about his M4: https://www.cameraquest.com/LeicaM4G.htm I am trying to track down exactly which 28mm lens Winogrand used, but that information seems to be elusive. Here is a page that talks about his gear and film of choice (Tri-X) but there's no definitive answer on what 28 he used: https://fotoform.co/garry-winogrand-kit JMHO but I think he was on the right track in selecting the 28mm as his favored focal length. There's nothing wrong with a 35mm lens as an all around street/documentary optic, but I find myself coming back to the 28 over and over again. YMMV. zlatkob Posted March 9, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2023 It seems he used the Canon 28mm f/2.8 LTM lens. I remember reading somewhere that he had two of them. See also:

Ernst Typing 6 words into Google would have taken less effort than the 14 words you took to inquire. Never mind copying and pasting the title. 🤪 Jeff
