If I was the project manager of this campaign I would suggest to reintroduce M7 or TO make a new M7 that has mechanical shutter with aperture priority option (like Nikon FM3A) which would introduce a different option to the market. An improved M7 would have been better - at least to me! Â The number one thing to improve it would actually be to remove a feature. Â Get rid of the DX reader. Â Even if it works correctly, you still have to deal w the confusing red flashing LED in the vf which flashes for any bunch of reasons, all connected to the ISO dial/dx reader. An M7 w no DX reader? Â Perfect.

I wonder how many current users actually employ the DX coder. Speaking for myself, I always (nearly) use bulk film an 'roll my own' and/or expose at other than the 'box speed' regardless of coding. Anyway, my limited experience rates the M7 as the most 'universally functional' Film Leica M.

If they keep the DX reader in our fantasy new M7, then at least change the messaging so they don’t use that single flashing led for five different possibilities! The FM3A also had an electro-mechanically controlled hybrid shutter. It also had one of the worst release timings in recent camera history, smack in 2001 when digital was overflowing the market. In the next years, while the camera was still available, sales of digital cameras had surpassed those of film cameras. The "nearly identical to MP" is a coincidence (MP is better, though) - the re-isuue happened due to nostalgia factor and the fact that next year will mark 40 years of Leica M6. But Nikon is one if the big players and one bad placed niche model was not dangerous for them. Releasing the M7 was Leicas death, almost. A camera least in demand at that point. adan Posted March 13, 2023 Share #28 Â Posted March 13, 2023 To edstock - sorry you haven't actually received any help on your question. As is often the case on the internet, those with the least information to provide manage to produce the largest amount of yak-yak-yak. Â The aphorism attributed to Abraham Lincoln is obviously a thing of the past: "It is better to say nothing and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

LocalHero1953 Posted March 13, 2023 Share #30 Â Posted March 13, 2023 I guess post #2 could have said "there IS no info on sales". The thread would then have meandered anyway, just as it has done.

They just sell all they can make - which sounds good but unless you know how many they are making, it doesn't mean much!
