Need to post a video online--Suggestions please

Bill, is this for downloading or viewing only? Will you be the one who posts it to the site or is there another (webmaster) who will do it? If so, what program(s) are you currently using for posting/web authoring? What software for video editing?

I would suggest an FLV (Flash Video file). Also, QT, .mov, .wmv files can be streamed or progressively downloaded. Whatever source material you have for your final short video can easily be converted to an FLV (or other format for the web). If it is a one-shot deal, I could convert the file for you also.

P.S. I am no expert in this, just dabble but have successfully posted stuff to the web. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some more useful information.

Charles, thanks for getting back to me.

I have made a video for a dancer and she wants to put a section(s) on her website.

I don't mind if it gets downloaded (imitation and flattery and all). I just want to make a small but viewable video.

I use Vegas for video editing. I can check to see what the manual recommends for an online style of video.

Thanks for weighing in.

  • 3 months later...

This has been solved (actually some time ago) by a suggestion from one of my coworkers to put the video up on YouTube.

This is lots of fun, easy to do (when I say that, it's *really* true), and free of course.

If you go to YouTube and search for maximalimage (me) or kelley donovan you can see the result. 160 people have seen this in 2 months -- making Kelley more than happy.

Totally tubular (pun intended).
