I've read the trheads but can't seem to find the categorical answer to one question. I have a Canon 220EX but can't for the life of me find my Wein safe sync. Can I mount the 220EX and not fry anything in the M8 or do I run a risk?

If it works fine then I can go from there and chimp to my heart's content to get it right.

How would the 220EX work beyond outputting full power everytime (which in theory, CAN work for your M8 but you'd have to stop your Leica lens down depending on how far your subject was to you)? Unless that is what you are looking to do. This works TTL only for Canon EOS, as far as my experience with it.

Did some product searches for you, in the 220ex form factor... The Metz 20-c2. This is an Auto flash with two working apertures (2.8 and 5.6) and it takes 2 batteries. So recycle may not be fast (try NiMH batteries) but it is small and cheap. I've never used it but specs say it tilts. Here's the LINK .
