Gosh I love my M8.

I think my M8 is great.

Certainly, I keep getting caught by the purple-blacks of IR-dom; but I know how to solve that. Moire lines crop up once in a while - but from what I understand, that's the physics of the technology.

The camera just plain works for me. I *love* the simplicity. I smile every time I pick it up. The pictures are stunning, especially when I frame things right. It blows all the P&S cameras away in terms of ease of use, and image quality. (at least, the dozen or so that have passed through my hands in one form or another)

Is it better than a Canon/Nikon SLR? Probably not, but, in film days, my F1N + lenses took a back seat to my Fujica rangefinders - film SLRs are just really clunky; the digital ones that I have used are better, but still look like you have the Millenium Falcon strapped to your neck, and have more menus and options than I can comprehend.

Software? ok. I do software development. It's tough to get things right; users always have a way of using software that is blindingly different than developers. I've just taken over the OSX interface to my libraries; this interface was coded and written by someone else, who coded and tested it. Of course, now I get to debug it, because it's broken, at least according to some users. Good for Leica for taking the time to get it right, rather than release broken copies (like we did - not a good thing)

Focus? To me, comparing focusing of lenses on 35mm film to smaller sensors with less "depth" is just NOT valid - maybe some lenses are out of adjustment, but in general, I'll stick to my 4 CV lenses of f2.5 to f4 speed, and leave the f0.8 (or whatever) lenses alone, because I don't think they fit into the M8 Digital era.
