28lux or 35lux - one has to go!

I have the 35 lux fle v2. Love it. I still consider, almost every day, adding the 28 lux. Will never send any M lens, as the photography bible says.

100% without a doubt the 28f1.4. I’m not quite sure why I would ever buy a 28mm f1.4. 

Can you give me an example of a photo you took with the 28f1.4 at f1.4 and why you took it at f1.4? I can’t imagine it.

 Enviromental portraits indoors , or late evenings, with beautiful background separation into a very smooth Bokeh while showing more structure in the background or foreground then taken by a 35 or 50mm. 
 Also as we have found out the 28 Summilux is super sharp corner to corner without the biting over saturated contrast of the Summicron and the Elmirit asph . By far the better lens for B&W. It is a very expensive lens no doubt, but it is an exceptional lens.

Yea. As I suspected.

So for me I would get rid of the 28 Lux.

35f1.4 is definitely a keeper.

Yes. It’s as I suspected. I find this blurry background wide angle style distracting and bizarre. Just reinforces that I would never find a 28f1.4 useful in any way.

What I fail to see is how the compression of a 35 at 1.4 is really that much different – the 50 1.4 for sure is. I think it's just you that doesn't get it, but that's cool, use whatever works for you and avoid what doesn't. You have to really want the look to spend that much money on one.

more wide angle blurry background samples! 😀

I would get rid of them both because they’re way too big for my taste… I don’t like 35mm but if I had one I would get this one

 if getting rid of one then 28f1.4 since he already has the tiny 28f2.8. For that sort of thing you just posted he can use the 35. Like you said there’s not that much difference for these sort of shots at f1.4… they’d look better at 35mm anyway… Just my opinion.

Sure, they may look better at any longer focal length, but you may lose the context the wider perspective provides. Of course, that context has to be relevant to the image to matter.

I've been trying to avoid the larger lenses this time around with the M system, too – the key word there being "trying" 🤑

The 50 Cron v5 is about as big as I want to get for 50, and I just got one of those. I'm currently using the CV 35 1.5 for 35mm FOV since it's so small and light (aluminum version). I had been using the LLL 35 8-Element replica but had issues with the rangefinder not reaching infinity. Looking for another 35 f/2 still.

If you blur the background the context doesn’t matter. That’s why they look so strange. If you look at all the samples they’ve replied to me taken at f1.4 there’s no context. Just close up and blurry backgrounds.

In all honesty, you can buy whatever you want keep whatever you want and sell whatever you want. There is enough glass out there from a few companies to keep everyone happy.  The 28 Summilux Asph at 10,000 dollars CND.  is not everyone’s cup of tea.
