Otherwise essentially unchanged...I would have thought that you'd need to at least to have seen the camera if not to have tried it to reach such a conclusion. What interest me is the newly announced 1.43x tele-converter, which works both with the GR-D and the GR-D II. If it's as good as the 21mm converter for the GR-D then it should be very good indeed. And 40mm is a very useful focal length.  But the trouble with converters is that they're awkward for street photography. Thinking about the fact that Moriyama Daido shoots with Ricoh's two samll 35mm cameras, the GR1 (28mm) and a GR21 (21mm), I would have liked Ricoh to have come out with two new cameras, a GR-D21 and a GR-D40 as well as the standard DR-D/GR-D II with the 28mm EFOV: then you put three little cameras in a small bag and "Bob's your uncle".  As it is, it might be interesting to get the 40mm converter and a GR-DII; then I could carry the GR-D with the 21mm converter and the GR-D II with the 40mm converter, and if I go crazy I could get another GR-D II to shoot at 28mm, which is now the focal length I use the most. That would allow me to get rid of the GX100, whose image softness I've been finding frustrating (although usually this can be eliminated by judicious post-processing of RAW files).  Anyway, the three-camera solution is a thought for street photography.  Here's Ricoh's websire on the camera:  Products & Solutions / GR DIGITAL II | Ricoh Global  —Mitch/Paris Flickr: Photos from Mitch Alland Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

LOL Â Seriously, the GRD2 has added some very interesting features, also Ricoh will provide a firmware upgrade to the original GRD to expand its feature sets. I see the 10mp sensor is ever so slightly larger than the one they were using previously so it's not simply a matter of stuffing more pixels.  Yes, Leica needs a digital CM to compete with Ricoh and (eventually) Sigma! A 21mm, 28, and now 40 in a ultra-compact package! Â And it sure is pretty cool that Ricoh will also be issuing a firmware upgrade for the original GR-D. Looking forward to experimenting with the added flash exposure compensation function.
