jrethorst Posted October 29, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted October 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Apparently the sensor in all these cameras will need to be replaced at some point. Is Leica extending the warranty / covering the cost only for the original purchaser?
Advertisement Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Hi jrethorst, Take a look here Digilux 2 sensor fix - free for original owner only?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Teddyp Posted October 29, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted October 29, 2007 leica's warranty is transferable, so if you have a bad sensor they will replace it free of charge. however, only some batches got the bab sensor. mine is still good.

Officially, Leica US warranty is not transferable. I have had some warranty issues with an M7 that I bought second hand and had to send the camera to New Jersey under the original owner's name.  I believe however, that the Digilux 2 issue is simply being handled as what a car manufacturer would classify a 'recall'. In other words - if you have a Digilux 2 with a bad sensor, Leica will repair it n/c, even if you are not the original owner. This is a goodwill waranty and has nothing to do with the original new product warranty.  My Digilux 2 was also bought used and Leica replaced the sensor n/c without any questions. marknorton Posted October 29, 2007 Share #4  Posted October 29, 2007 It would be interesting to know what settlement they (Panasonic) have reached with Sony and they (Leica) have reached with Panasonic over who pays for the replacement...
ajthornbury Posted October 29, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted October 29, 2007 I am a D2 second user. Leica UK didn't quibble when my sensor went recently. Alan.
steich Posted October 29, 2007 Share #6  Posted October 29, 2007 In Germany, it´s not only for the first owner. The guy who bought my D2 had a sensor failure just a month later- they fixed it free of charge.  Stefan
