madNbad Posted February 19, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) The ribbed Leica 50mm SBOOI finder has a series of dashed lines just below the top frame lines. These are for pairing the finder with the 1F and are used as an aid for close focusing. When the same finder is used on a camera with a rangefinder, those lines hare now too high to be useful. Recently, I purchased a used Voigtlander 28mm finder. It has a series of dashed lines just below the top frame line but no indication of what they are for. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks. robbie3 Posted February 19, 2023 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2023 Hi, from the B&H website entry for the Voigtlander 28mm Metal Brightline Optical Viewfinder: "The 0.43x-magnification viewfinder's brightlines are meant to represent the appropriate field of view when focused at infinity, however a dotted set of lines can also be used to compensate for parallax when working from a focused distance of 3'.
madNbad Posted February 20, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted February 20, 2023 Thank you. I thought it was for close up parallax compensation but hadn’t been able to track down any verification. It’s a really nice finder and it’s too bad Cosina stopped making them.
robbie3 Posted February 20, 2023 Share #4 Posted February 20, 2023 NP, I've always been impressed by the quality of this range of finders (I use the 15mm one). Only problem I had was the finder wanted to work its way loose from the hotshoe, a square of gaffer tape on the bottom of the finder foot solved that.
